Majority of US population rejects intervention in Venezuela
The poll was conducted by CBS News/YouGov

A poll released on Sunday reveals that 70% of workers in the United States strongly oppose any military action against Venezuela. Carried out by the CBS News/YouGov institute, the poll exposes the unpopularity of imperialism’s policy.
The poll comes at a time when the US government, under the command of Donald Trump, is stepping up its threats against the government of Nicolás Maduro. The Trump administration seeks to justify an escalation of criminal sanctions and armed provocations, alleging supposed links to drug trafficking – accusations without proof that only serve to cover up the theft of Venezuelan resources. However, the people of the US, victims of the same war machine that devours trillions in military spending while galloping inflation crushes wages, are not inclined to support the military adventure.
Only 30% of those interviewed support direct aggression. Even more striking: three out of four Americans, including more than half of Republicans themselves, demand that the Trump administration submit any warmongering plan to Congress for approval, rejecting unilateral government decisions. Among Democrats, 97% call for transparency; among independents, 86%; and among Republicans, 64% recognize the need for clarification. Even within the Republican Party, deep fissures are opening up: while 66% of Trump supporters advocate intervention, only 47% of non-Trump Republicans support interference, with 53% openly opposing it.
The poll also unmasks the farce of “threats” fabricated by the US. For 48% of Americans, Venezuela represents at most a “minor threat”; 39% don’t even consider it a threat; and only 13% fall for the CIA’s propaganda. On the pretext of drug trafficking, 56% of those interviewed believe that a military invasion would not solve the flow of drugs into the US, but would only worsen the chaos, benefiting the real cartels operating from US soil. And as for the recent attacks on small boats, supposedly linked to drug trafficking, 53% approve superficially, but 75% demand concrete proof and another 47% disapprove outright.
